I'm not going to buy Stanley Kurtz' book or even check it out at my local socialist library, but I did read this review from @weigel
As I've said before, every American president since Woodrow Wilson has been some sort of socialist. In fact, Obama has been a far less reliable socialist than many of us on the left would have hoped. Perhaps we need to stop running from the word and simply point out to people that "public" works=socialism, and in fact there is nothing inherent in public libraries, fire departments, highways etc. that makes it a forgone conclusion that we will soon be the USSR.
